Reindeer belonging to the mountain herding districts migrate between winter pastures in the east, close to the Baltic coast, and summer pastures on the Scandinavian mountain chain in the west. Forest and concession herding districts remain in the boreal forest year around. The winter ranges of mountain districts partly overlap with land of the forest districts
