Factors influencing decision-making for resource use: aspect, altitude and accessibility of the pasture on seasonal basis and distance from the villages, forage quality, water availability and threats from predators on daily basis were found to be important ecological factors influencing the decisions of herding practices. The ecological factors work in consonance with the social factors like availability of workforce and TEK of the herders and rules and regulations of local institutions regulate access and use of the pastures
